Well look at that even the mention of his old gang made him scared, yet this idiot didn't stop to think "hey maybe we can use them to take care of him for us" nah instead he's hiding again.

Where do you think he is going to find his "old gang" huh? Sure he could have asked the mom but I don't think adding more gangs would help.

Low-key it would be more problematic. But gangsters in Korea have loyalty thing if I rember correctly. Him paying them some money and them wanting to kill might have just worked out. And yes he betrayed the gang itself but most of all Charlie Kim tried to kill a leader. Which is usually worse. So him bring the "old gang" was plausible in theory.
