Her mom sucked. His must have been glue for the family. And even then why did she treat the child of the man she loved so awful as he was grieving his father.🤔

Who knows. Maybe she just married the dad for the money, so once the dad died she was mad that he was just "wasting her money"?Maybe the dad worked himself to death so she rationalized that if MC worked as well the dad wouldn't have to work so hard?Maybe she is jealous that he gets to be depressed in his room all day but she still needs to get out of bed to work/clean/cook?Maybe the dad cared about MC more then the wife/daughter and she resented him for that and when when the dad died nothing was holding that back anymore?Maybe she was just not a good person and evil to the bone?Could be a number of things.
