Mc said well since she is here. But in all seriousness the story is doing a good job of keeping his enemies close. They can do and say what they want but deep down mc will never trust any of them. And I'm strangely OK with that. He is having a logical reaction to a betrayal and even though she is saying that other girl never believed the rumors. What's the point of bringing it up now. Make it make sense. 🤔

I like the pacing. And his hardened resolve. I think he needs to remind himself consistently that they destroyed him and his family‘s life, they took everything from him without an ounce of conscience; even sent his father to an early grave behind bars. They don’t deserve any compassion, empathy, or lighthandedness. As nice as Auntie acts, she is complicit with the conspiracy against his family. None of them deserve any mercy.
