A familiar scene: a person dies, and their soul drifts toward the great beyond. Yet before it reaches its destination, a goddess intervenes. She plucks the soul from the ether and offers a deal. In exchange for saving her world, she will grant the soul new life in a world of her own creation, along with powers so great they could be called cheats.
One by one, these chosen humans are reborn with the strength of demigods. But as power corrupts, so too do many of them abandon their vows. Greed and violence replace their promises, and the goddess’s world falls deeper into chaos.
